Flying high after refund

-

Harry Wallis is on cloud nine after Raw Deal secured him a £700 refund following a flights fiasco.

In March last year, Harry, from Invergordon, Easter Ross, booked return lights with easyjet from Inverness to Fuerteventura via Gatwick for a sunshine holiday with his wife.

They were scheduled to depart last November but the trip was cancelled due to the pandemic.

“Easyjet emailed me in June to say they were cancelling these flights and asking would I like to rebook to a later date without any fees, so I changed the flights to March this year,” said Harry. “However, I was furious when I had to pay another £74 for my allotted seats that had been booked on the previous booking.”

In November 2020, easyjet again emailed Harry to say that, due to unforeseen circumstances, they had cancelled and rebooked the couple’s two UK internal flights.

“The new flight times meant that we would need to stay overnight in London so I phoned easyjet to demand a full refund of the four flights I had paid for,” he said.

“Easyjet said they would refund the two rebooked flights but not the Gatwick-fuerteventura return as they were still live.”

In frustration, Harry turned to Raw Deal. The good news is that the company investigated and decided that Harry was due his full £702 back.

Easyjet said: “If a customer’s flight time changes and this isn’t suitable then customers can of course request a refund.

“Mr Wallis was unfortunately incorrectly charged the fare difference for his original flight transfer due to an isolated manual error, which should have been free of charge, and so this was also refunded.”

Harry said that he was grateful to Raw Deal for stepping in. He added: “Raw Deal has worked its magic once again.”
