Cold weather is the most likely cause. Close to the glass, temperatures can drop very low so move your seedlings off the windowsills at night.

Cut off pieces of root, trim to 3cm sections, lay these flat in a seed tray and cover with compost. Water and keep under cover until shoots start to appear.
