We land airline voucher for couple

-

William and Janet Brown are looking forward to saving £100 on their next holiday after Raw Deal helped them get an expired gift voucher reinstated.

In September last year the Browns booked three return flights from Edinburgh to Tenerife with Ryanair.

“The total cost was £687 and, of this, £587 was paid by credit card and the balance of £100 was paid by a Ryanair travel gift card that we had received from our son earlier last year,” said William. “The card had an expiry date of December 2020.”

In early January the couple were told the flights were being cancelled due to the Covid crisis.

As a result, the low-cost airline offered them a voucher for the full value of £687 or a refund.

“We elected to take the refund and a short time later only £587 was paid back into our credit card account,” said William.

“When we asked why it was £100 short we were told it was because the original gift voucher was voided, as it had expired at the end of December.

“The company was happy to accept the voucher in the first instance as part-payment, so we felt that they should provide us with a replacement voucher to the same value.”

When they decided they could get no joy from the airline, the Browns wrote to Raw Deal. After we contacted Ryanair, the couple were soon given a replacement voucher for £100. Ryanair said: “A customer service agent has contacted the customer to clarify this matter.”

William said he was grateful to Raw Deal for stepping in. He said: “We had been pursuing this matter for months and yet, 24 hours after Raw Deal’s intervention, the matter was resolved.”
