Wright’s eyes Well focused in crunch tie

-

Kilmarnock manager Tommy Wright has insisted training has been the same this week but that won’t stop him from doing something different in the dug-out this afternoon.

With Killie needing Motherwell to do them a turn against Ross County, Wright will have any news of Fir Park fed to him directly as he assesses the situation in front of him.

A win for Motherwell married to a Kilmarnock win against Hamilton Accies would see the champagne chilling, but even a point for the Highlanders could change the picture significantly.

“We will look for updates from Fir Park,” said Wright.

“If Ross County are winning 3-0 or 4-0 I may look to get players off and get them prepared and ready for Thursday.

“Normally you wouldn’t do it and we haven’t done it previously. But this is a one-off game of such importance that we do need to be aware of what is happening. And I will decide what information the players need on the back of that.”

Despite the precarious position Killie find themselves in, Wright has maintained there has been no doom and gloom at the club.

“Unfortunately it is not the ideal position we are in,” he said.

“Our focus is just to go and win at Hamilton. It really has to be as simple as that.

“It is the biggest game of the season for us.

“The rewards are so high if we can win and Motherwell get a result.

“There has been no change with the players. Their attitude has been brilliant. We just need to play well as a team for 90 minutes.

“That might mean digging it out and fighting for each other but I would take a scrappy 1-0 right now if you offered me it.”
