Big Dunc’s time at Everton may yet come

-

Duncan Ferguson has once again stepped up for Everton to take over their managerial duties on an interim basis. He will not let the club down.

Big Dunc is an Evertonian through and through, and for years has given 100% every day for that football club.

He has been in this position before, did well, and some say he should be given the job on a permanent basis.

Well, he has been coaching now for a decade, and is adored by the Everton supporters. So I can understand why he’d be a name on the lips of many.

However, I think if the Goodison hierarchy wanted him to have the job on a full-time basis, then he would have been offered it by now.

And the man himself has said he doesn’t think he yet has the experience to take over But maybe, in time, that will come. There are a few names in the frame to

succeed Rafa Benitez, and I feel sorry for him that it didn’t work out.

Considering his history with Liverpool, it was a brave decision to make the switch across Stanley Park last summer.

Rafa would have known that if he hit a tricky patch, and results weren’t going his way, he may not have been afforded the same amount of time as others to turn it around because of his association with Anfield.

I have no doubt that, given more time, Rafa would have got it right at Everton.

He knows football inside out, knows how to get points on the board and knows how to win games.

I’m certain he will have offers to consider in the coming months because his ability isn’t in question.

At the age of 61, it will be interesting to see what Rafa does next, and whether he will look to stay in the game or not.
