Buckie and Brora have final feeling

-

BUCKIE THISTLE will play BRORA RANGERS in the Highland League Cup Final.

Graeme Stewart’s Buckie side took only four minutes to open the scoring against FORT WILLIAM in their semi-final, Sam Urquhart lobbing a long ball in behind from full-back Shaun Wood. In the final minute, Jack Murray clinched the tie with a header for 2-0.

Brora drew 1-1 at FRASERBURGH, but went through 4-2 on penalties. Brora’s Jordan Macrae opened on 66 minutes, with Ryan Sargent levelling. That sent the game to penalties. Tony Dingwall, Martin Maclean, Gregor Macdonald and Jordan Macrae all scored for Brora, while Sean Butcher and Willie West missed for the homesters, sending The Cattachs through.

In the League, hosts BRECHIN CITY crushed NAIRN COUNTY 5-0. Julian Wade tapped in early on, then hit a second just after the halfhour. He completed his hat-trick in the second half, with Marc Scott netting a double.

DEVERONVALE won 3-2 at home against INVERURIE LOCOS. After a first half devoid of action, Locos were 2-0 up by the hour through Keiran Shanks (pen) and Neil Gauld. Vale quickly struck back through Max Stewart, then had Stuart Gilmour red-carded with nine minutes remaining. But the 10 men equalised five minutes later when Stewart fired home a fine free-kick from wide on the left. The midfielder then struck an even better free-kick from 30 yards in time added to claim his hat-trick and victory.

CLACHNACUDDIN went down 2-0 at home to ROTHES, Allan Pollock and Ross Gunn netting.

Visitors FORMARTINE UNITED took the lead against FORT WILLIAM through a Scott Lisle header, but Fort equalised in 58 minutes when Adam Morris lobbed home. Fort left-back Jordan Thompson was then sent off after collecting two yellow cards.

Craig Mackenzie and Dylan Lawrence netted as STRATHSPEY THISTLE beat TURRIFF UNITED 2-1. Turriff pulled one back through Owen Kinsella, and they ended the game with 10 men after Magnus Watson saw red.
