It may now be Hall over bar the shouting

England’s Georgia Hall established a five-shot lead after the third round of the Aramco Saudi Ladies International.

Hall carded a four-under-par 68 at the Royal Greens Golf & Country Club in King Abdullah Economic City for a 10 under par total of 206.

Kristyna Napoleaova, who tied with Hall at the top of the leaderboard at the halfway stage, shot a two-over 74 to fall out of contention.

Sweden’s Anna Nordqvist carded a 69 to sit in second place while her compatriot, Johanna Gustavsson, tied with Napoleaova a further shot back.

England’s Cloe Frankish is tied for seventh on two-under, with Becky Brewerton the next best placed Briton on two-over-par.

SNOOKER

Scottish snooker star John Higgins hopes his weight loss can lead to a precious fifth World Championship gong next month.

The world No. 6, 46, shed the pounds after “struggling to breathe” during last year’s snooker showcase in Sheffield.

Higgins was painfully pipped at the final hurdle in three consecutive Crucible finals between 2017-19.

But the Wizard of Wishaw is back among the favourites to once again conquer the Crucible after reaching four major finals this season.

Higgins has said winning a fifth world title would be his “greatest ever achievement” and would take the heartache away from his recent final near misses.

“You look forward to it every year, of course you do,” admitted Higgins.

“I’d like to go back and see what I’ll be like going back there. It’s the first time in a few years where I’ll be physically a little bit better prepared for it.

“I would like to see how far I can go now I’ve lost a bit of weight.

“I’d like to see how that might affect me if I get through the first round or two. That’s what I would love to try and find out.

“I would love to see if it’s a benefit with the longer-framed multi-session matches.

“I’m still trying to keep on top of it and trying to eat better as well. I don’t want to go back to myself a year ago or 18 months ago.”
