There’s no business like snow business as Aspen’s slopes fill with A-listers

-

I’ve flown out to Aspen in America’s Colorado Rockies this week to ski and hang out with the celebrity great and the good from across the globe. The ski resort is known the world over for glitz and glamour... just like skiing in Scotland really, apart from the gale-force winds, frostbite and obligatory poke of chips at the top of the Glencoe ski lift.

Aspen hosts celebrity guests every year including Kanye West, Gigi Hadid, Elton John and Jack Nicholson to name just a few.

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have just left, sadly, as I’ve always wanted to tell Katy that I shared a steamy night with her husband… well, we sat together on an overnight flight from NY and I fell asleep.

With four amazing mountains to ski and just under two hours from LA, Aspen really is the most sensational place. The people are friendly and there is something to fit all kinds of budgets. Don’t take my word for it, ask another man

I dined with, Michael Douglas.

“It’s a magical place,” said Douglas.“i was first introduced to it by Jack Nicholson back in 1975 just after we made One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest and I’ve spent a lot of time here.

“I even proposed to Catherine (Zeta-jones) right here at the millennium on December 31, 1999. It’s easy to remember, not because of the date, but because it’s the smartest thing I ever did!”

At the very forefront are the hotels like the newly refurbished Limelight with huge rooms and Aspen’s only ski in and ski out 5 star 5 Diamond hotel The Little Nell. It’s one of the world’s finest hotels and is always a fave with the stars..hey even Gerry Butler bought me breakfast there.

When it comes to shopping, the only place to go is Aspen X. The shop is like something out of a Bond movie and they serve drinks and food while you try on the latest skiing equipment by appointment. When it comes to apres ski, Snow Beach at the top of Ajax Mountain is the latest must-see. The view is even better than Portobello beach!

Leonardo Dicaprio is a regular here and of course the Kardashian clan are often seen on the slopes. They regularly rent a $75 million home – which goes for $450,000 a month or $25,000 a day! (It does come with a bowling alley, cinema and pool). Kendall Jenner is seemingly immune to frostbite. The 26-year-old recently posted a trio of cheeky photos of herself clad only in a skimpy black bikini and faux fur Miu Miu boots (bargain at $1,590) while frolicking in the snow. My ski guide Jill tells me this is becoming a habit for people wanting to do pictures for next year’s Christmas cards.

Speaking of the Kardashians, Kanye West is having a huge beef with Kim’s new beau, Pete Davidson. It’s been said that Pete is really worried Kanye or a fan might do something silly. So how is he staying away from him? By going boldly... into space. Pete will be on the next rocket by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos’ company Blue Origin.

Wonder if he has a Prime membership?
