Everything was taken care of in case something happened to us

- Lesley Anne Thaw, 44, Perthshire

In 2005, Lesley Anne Thaw was diagnosed with fibromyalgia, a condition that affects the brain and causes pain all over a person’s body. She was often tired, weak and suffered from headaches. It took years before doctors identified her illness but now she’s taking medication for it and uses crutches to help her move around.

Three years ago, she also found out she has type 2 diabetes. With her 76-year-old father suffering with dementia, 44-year-old Lesley thought it was a good idea to take up ILAWS’ special offer for a Will and Power of Attorney (POA).

She says: “It was easy because all we did was phone and make an appointment. And they spoke with us and everything was done for us in a matter of weeks.”

Lesley wanted to make sure that “everything was set in case something happened to us”.

She works as a children’s escort, accompanying kids as they go to and from school. She doesn’t have children herself but she does have a partner. She says: “With the Power of Attorney, people can make decisions for me if I were to go into a coma or something.”

Lesley has already recommended getting a Will and POA to her partner and her friends. She explains: “It’s worthwhile because you never know what’s around the corner. I would recommend ILAWS because they’re committed to the person they’re dealing with.”

For Lesley, the paperwork was no problem at all and the whole process just took two to three weeks. Now she has finished, feeling happy and confident, knowing she can also change the people involved in her Will and Power of Attorney anytime she needs to.
