G7 nations promise newphaseofsupport

-

Ukraine is top of the agenda as world leaders gather in Germany today.

The G7 nations – the UK, US, Canada, Japan, France, Germany and Italy – will discuss the conflict after being addressed remotely by the nation’s President Volodymyr Zelensky today.

Downing Street said the UK will support Ukraine’s goals of ending the war with a deal under which Russia’s troops pull out of any territory occupied since the invasion. It said the two summits were “the most crucial gathering of world leaders since Putin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine”, adding: “The West has come together to provide military, financial and political support. As it becomes clear this war will not be won by Mr Putin, but ultimately by Ukraine thanks to their long, continuing resolve, our support needs to enter a new phase.”
