Snowballs in Jamaica? Not yet but Caramel wafers are on their way

-

Tunnock’s is celebrating its first export deal to Jamaica.

But the Caribbean island won’t be getting snowballs.

The firm sent almost 1,000 boxes of its famous Caramel Wafers and Wafer Creams by container ship to Kingston for the first time last month, after securing an export deal with a distributor.

The deal comes after the family-owned company based in Uddingston, Lanarkshire, racked up overseas sales of more than £12 million for the first time despite the challenges posed by Brexit.

Kevin Hayes, Tunnock’s export manager, said: “Tunnock’s are delighted to announce that our products are now available in Jamaica for the very first time. Together with our fantastic new partner in the market, we look forward to bringing the taste of Tunnock’s to homes across the Caribbean Island.”

The Jamaica deal follows

Tunnock’s being sold in the likes of Mauritius, Belize in Central America, Suriname in South America and the Faroe Islands, where residents reportedly get through around 850,000 Caramelwafers a year.
