Royal Navy team rescued after hijacking by French fishing skipper

-

“A Royal Navy boarding party was hijacked by a French skipper yesterday 70 miles off Grimsby,” read the paper.

“The Ministry of Defence said last night it all began when the captain of the offshore protection vessel HMS Alderney sent an unarmed boarding party on to the Jean Hormuz, a French fishing vessel. He wanted to take the vessel in to Grimsby for investigation of possible net offences. But the skipper refused to go. He set off for Boulogne with the Navy boarding party still on board. ‘HMS Alderney gave chase and, aided by an RAF Sea King helicopter, succeeded in stopping the fishing vessel,’ said an MOD spokesman.”
