Young Scots on the wrong end of awelsh humbling
SCOTLAND 15 WALES 45
Scotland were crushed in the opening game of the Six Nations Under-20s Summer Series yesterday as Wales strolled to a seven-tries-to-three victory in Treviso,
writes STUART BATHGATE.
The young Scots had high hopes of ending a 10-match losing run, as they had only been beaten 26-13 by their Welsh counterparts earlier this year.
But from the third minute of the Pool B match at the Stadio di
Monigo, when Wales went ahead with a soft score, it was clear there was only going to be one winner.
Hooker Gregor Hiddleston got Scotland off the mark with a try midway through the first half, but Wales had the bonus point in the bag before the break.
The second half was a bit brighter for the Scots as replacement Patrick Harrison scored twice.
However, there are real defensive problems for head coach Kenny Murray to sort out before the next pool game, against hosts Italy on Thursday evening.
