Andy gave all hehadforgers and Scotland

-

The passing of Andy Goram is very sad news.

I suppose it’s not a huge surprise, given the serious health issues he has had to endure in the past few months.

But it doesn’t make it any easier for anyone to hear that he’s passed away.

That’s especially the case for his former team-mates and for thousands of fans, not just from Rangers, but all his other clubs and the Tartan Army, too.

He was devoted to Rangers, of course, and he gave everything he had for that football club.

Andy was just brilliant during the ninein-a-row era, and played a huge part in the success Walter Smith had with that squad.

It’s so heartbreaking to think that Walter is also no longer with us.

Many Light Blues supporters, and many former Rangers players, say he is the best goalkeeper the club has ever had.

Given that this year marks 150 years

since the club was founded, that is a huge compliment.

The thoughts and prayers from the Dalglish family go to all Andy’s family and friends.

It wasn’t great to see Sir Andy Murray go out of Wimbledon last Wednesday. I wanted him to go deeper into the tournament.

The question is now being debated over whether he’ll ever be back there again to play competitively. I certainly hope he is.

Sure, the odds of him winning his third Wimbledon Championship would be long, but he still has plenty to offer.

You could see last midweek in losing to John Isner that he doesn’t like not coming out on top. His reaction told you everything.

The pain of the defeat was clear to see, and as long as he has that fire in his belly and will to win then he should keep going.

But that is easy for me to say. I’m not privy to how his body feels on a day-today basis as he goes through his gruelling routines.

Whatever happens, Andy has had one fantastic career. The standards he has set have been remarkable.
