Thistle grabbed a late winner to dump the newly promoted League 1 side, but they put up a fight to the end. It was super sub George Oakley who hit the winner in the 89th minute to make sure of all three points.

Billy Dodds’ latest signing was only on the field for nine minutes when he broke the deadlock after he was sent through by Billy Mckay and fired past the helpless Darren Jamieson from 12 yards.

Caley Jags opened strongly and Steven Boyd had a great chance from a Cameron Harper corner, but his powerful header went wide.

On eight minutes, Jamieson came to the rescue of Kelty when he

got his fingers to a shot from Mckay and tipped it over.

The Maroon Machine finally got going and, in the15th minute, Alfredo Agyeman came close, but his shot from the edge of the box brought a diving save from keeper Mark Ridgers.

Shortly after at the other end, Mckay saw his shot blocked by the home defence, then Aaron Doran and Roddy Macgregor both had shots saved.

In the 38th minute, Kelty should have gone ahead when Lewis Martin broke away as a free-kick came in, but Ridgers brought off another fine save.

Just before the turn, Thistle created another chance, but Austin Samuels’ shot went over and, just on half-time, Aaron Doran saw his 20-yarder soar over.

After the interval, Zak Delaney shot past and then Kallum Higginbotham’s acute angle shot and a Thomas Reilly header were dealt with by Ridgers.

Doran and Steven Boyd both had chances for Thistle midway through and, on 70 minutes, Billy Mckay’s header struck the post and was cleared.

Just as the game looked like going to penalties, up popped Oakley to fire home to clinch all three points.
