The 34-year-old carded seven birdies without a blemish on the Lakes Course to reach 10-underpar, one stroke clear of English duo Ross Mcgowan and Daniel Brown, as well as Iceland’s Gudmundur Kristjanss­on.

Former Ryder Cup man, and four-time Tour winner, Stephen Gallacher is languishin­g in 118th spot on three-over.

Tony Finau holds a four-shot lead heading into today’s final round of the Cadence Bank Houston Open.

A third-round two-under-par 68 took him to 15-under-par. His nearest challenger is England’s Ben Taylor, with Justin Rose in a threeway tie for third at eight-under.

Scotland’s Russell Knox is in a share of 10th on a six-under total of 204, while Martin Laird is at levelpar in a tie for 42nd.
