What the celebs are talking about this week

“Over the moon with a personal best and British record. If I knew we were so close to breaking 30 mins, I would have brought out my best 100m dip finish!”

Huge congratulations to Eilish Mccolgan (above), who smashed Paula Radcliffe’s 20-year-old 10,000m record with a time of 30 minutes 00.86 seconds. That sub 30-minute record is hers for the taking!

“For the most part, ET is a pretty perfect movie. It’s one of the few movies I’ve made that I can actually look back at again and again.”

Steven Spielberg says his 1982 Oscar-nominated film is one of his few films he loves watching with his kids. We’re not surprised, it’s a childhood classic for many generations.

“It was fun but I mean, I don’t know if I could do it again because I’m a little bit scared of the bees.”

While some Great Celebrity Bake Off contestants fear Paul Hollywood’s judging or a dreaded soggy bottom, comedian Katherine Ryan had a nightmare with the bees on set. Unlike her, we’re buzzing to see Bake Off back.

“You’ve got Madonna on the one hand – and we’re told that’s not the right thing. Then you have someone else, where we’re told, ‘They looked better 20 years ago’. How are we, culturally, meant to age?”

Pirates Of The Carribean star Keira Knightley weighs in on the ageism row following Madonna’s appearance at the recent Grammy Awards and the fact women are made to feel ageing is bad. Madonna has earned the right to do whatever the hell she likes, we say.

“Why are there no matinees? I am gonna just say this as a suggestion. U2: do a matinee so I’m gonna be home and in bed by 7.30pm.”

Jamie Lee Curtis is calling for musicians to put on concerts during the day. We reckon she might be on to something.

“I hope my doll will remind girls that when you reach for the stars, anything is possible.”

Space scientist Dr Maggie Aderin-pocock, who presents BBC1’S The Sky At Night and Stargazing, on having a Barbie Doll created in her honour. Who says the sky is the limit?
