Buckie held but go nine clear at top

-

With Brechin City’s match against Keith postponed, this was a chance for hosts BUCKIE to crank the pressure up another notch at the top of the table.

In the end, they had to settle for a 1-1 draw against ROTHES, going nine points clear, and having played four games more. After a goalless first hour, Aidan Wilson blasted home an opener. Buckie struck back immediately as Josh Peters fired low in at the near post.

Jordan Macrae and Millar Gamble netted in BRORA RANGERS’ 2-1 win over NAIRN COUNTY, Fraser Dingwall netting for Nairn in the second half with a wonderful curling effort.

Dominican forward Julian Wade hit a hat-trick as hosts FORMARTINE thrashed WICK ACADEMY 6-0 at North Lodge Park. Tyler Mykyta, Scott Lisle and Matthew Maclean also netted.

BANKS O’ DEE recorded one of their best results of the season, defeating title holders FRASERBURGH 3-0 on their own ground. The game burst into life on 70 minutes when veteran forward Neil Gauld fired into the bottom corner from the edge of the box. Within the next eight minutes they had scored another two through Lachie Macleod and Magnus Watson.

INVERURIE LOCOS led 1-0 at HUNTLY thanks to Robert Ward’s goal, but the hosts levelled late in the game through former Loco Andy Hunter.

DEVERONVALE came from behind to pick up the points. After a goalless first half, FORRES took the lead just after the break through Ryan Macleman. Vale levelled on 61 minutes through their No. 5 Innes Mackay. With five minutes remaining, Horace Ormsby popped up to fire home the winning goal.

CLACHNACUDDIN won 2-0 at LOSSIEMOUTH. Harry Hennem’s whipped delivery was turned into his own net by Lossie’s Dean Stewart for the first, with Allan Pollock netting late on.

Kyle Gordon (2), Jordan Cooper, Jack Mackenzie and Ewan Clark made up the nap hand as homesters TURRIFF UNITED cruised past STRATHSPEY THISTLE 5-0.
