The Sunday Post (Dundee)

VIEW Why not take some time out for simple pleasures this Christmas?

-

There is no doubt the news can – at times – feel unrelentingly bad.

It is the nature of the beast and not something we would ever want to shy away from.

However, there is also a lighter side to life and, with Christmas upon us, we make no apology for focusing on that as much as possible in today’s Sunday Post.

The festive season is a time for joy and happiness, and so we wanted to share some good news.

Today we very much hope you enjoy reading about the generations coming together to talk about what makes this time of year so special.

Care home staff and primary school children were delighted to swap festive tales, leaving the years to melt away and smiles on the faces of those both young and old.

Or what about the news of the down-ontheir-luck animals who have found their forever homes just in time for Christmas celebrations?

Uplifting stuff.

And let’s spare a thought for the volunteers whose gift is to give their time over the holiday period.

A very, very heartfelt happy Christmas

Determined to help, their selfless actions make life better for some of the most vulnerable in society.

And those looking for a festive chuckle would do well to check in on the inhabitants of Dull, Boring and Bland.

Just how does one celebrate in such a tedious settlement?

Our intrepid reporter decided to find out...

We also want to be generous ourselves this Christmas, so why not enter our special competition by suggesting the perfect present for our favourite lovable scamp Oor Wullie?

With a number of cash prizes up for grabs, it could be the perfect way to start your festive celebrations.

Today’s edition also carries news of the birthing friends, who are dedicated to helping young mothers who find themselves having children in a strange country.

So, yes, the news can be worrisome at times, but let us never forget there is also so much to celebrate in society.

And even when times do get tough, there are people willing to help.

The Sunday Post is proud to be teaming up with Age Scotland in a bid to tackle the scourge of loneliness.

Several high-profile figures have already backed our campaign, and there was warm applause when the issue was raised in parliament this week.

There is a genuine will to make things better for those suffering most from issues around isolation.

We sincerely hope all of our loyal readers find some time for rest, relaxation and joy this festive season.

We hope you find time to share simple pleasures with those nearest and dearest.

To one and all, from our homes to yours, a very, very heartfelt happy Christmas.
