SPARTANS 0 STRANRAER 0

Stranraer grabbed a point in their clash with high-flying Spartans to move off the bottom of the table.

The hosts had ta first chance when Cammy Russell’s chip attempt was stopped by Blues keeper Lewis Budinauckas on 12 minutes.

They broke away two minutes later and Blair Carswell had to bring off a great save from a Deryn Lang. Ben Armour had another chance for the visitors in the 20th minute, but his header went past the upright. On 35 minutes, a free-kick from Cammy Russell into the Stranraer box found Henderson, but the home keeper got to the ball.

In first-half stoppage-time, Lang had two chances for The Blues, but a header went past and a shot was blocked by the home defence.

They had a huge chance in the 54th minute when a ball from Armour caused a scramble in the Spartans’ goalmouth and the ball was eventually cleared.

Seven minutes from time, Tam Orr broke through the home defence and cut the ball back to Dylan Forest, but the striker’s shot was too high.

EAST FIFE 1 BONNYRIGG 4

Dick Campbell’s nine-game unbeaten run as manager of East Fife came to a whimpering halt as Bonnyrigg Rose breezed past the Fifers 4-1 at the MGM Timber Bayview Stadium.

The Rosey Posey had the ball in the back of the net early doors, but it was chalked off for offside. East Fife responded to the disallowed goal, by venturing up the other end and scoring, with Alan Trouten nodding home.

The Black and Gold were only in front for six minutes, however, as Neil Martynuik’s headed effort handed Bonnyrigg an equaliser.

Bonnyrigg were ahead a further 10 minutes later. Dean Watson’s floated cross found Ross Gray, and his volley at the near post was unstoppable, once again beating Allan Fleming.

Before half-time, Bonnyrigg had made it three as Dean Watson hit a 35-yard half-volley off the crossbar. The rebound fell to Bradley Barrett, who could not miss.

In the second half, Rose kept pushing and eventually got their fourth with 15 minutes left on the clock through Kerr Young.

PETERHEAD 2 FORFAR 1

Forfar’s Inglis had the first shot at goal in the 10th minute, but his drive from 20 yards drifted just over. Skelly was next to try his luck but his effort again went over.

Mckee had Peterhead’s first attempt at goal in 30 minutes, but his curling effort from a free-kick scraped the post.

The Blue Toon took the lead after 49 minutes when Hamish Ritchie stroked home after Kieran Shanks had proved a nuisance to the Forfar defence.

With the wind at their backs, Forfar started to push and got an equaliser when Mckenzie misjudged a Brindley cross and Scally bulleted home a header.

Peterhead regained the lead from another Shanks assist, his pass sending Jack Brown on his way, the midfielder cutting inside to shoot low past Mccallum from 12 yards.

Forfar had one last chance, but Mckenzie kept the Blue Toon lead intact when he got down well to thwart Forfar substitute Mohammed.

STENHOUSEMUIR 1 ELGIN 1

With a strong wind making proceedings difficult for both sides, it came as a shock when the home side took the lead though a long-range shot against the wind by Ross Taylor in the 15th minute.

Elgin keeper Thomas Mchale made a superb save to deny Matty Yates from close range in the 63rd minute to keep Elgin in the game and that proved to a vital stop.

Dayshonne Golding missed the target with only the Stenny keeper to beat in the 76th minute, but they were eventually rewarded for their efforts when Robert Jones tucked home a rebound.

In stoppage-time, Elgin’s Owen Cairns was sent off for a second caution, but the game finished before it could make a difference to the game.

DUMBARTON 1 CLYDE 0

A five-star free-kick by James Hilton confirmed Dumbarton’s place in the top four in a weather-dominated game against Clyde.

The visitors had a strong wind advantage in the first half, but it was the home side who hit the net first. However, James Hilton’s finish from Finlay Gray’s flick was ruled offside.

He then forced a fine save from the visiting keeper after some neat passing, before Martin Rennie hit the post for Clyde after a clearance caught in the wind.

In the second half, the visitors thought they had opened the scoring, but it was Jordan Allan’s turn to be denied by an offside flag.

A through ball by Gray then put Carlo Pignatiello through, but the Sons midfielder dragged his angled shot wide.

However, after 73 minutes, Hilton drilled home a 25-yard free-kick to put the home side in front.
