Bu But despite this, the deputy mayor of Sant Santa Cruz, the town on the Canary Islan Island where the incident happened, has promised “disciplinary proc proceedings”.
Sp Spaniard Crosas, who played 51 time times for the Hoops, wrote on Twitter: “I regr regret the damage caused by the unfo unfortunate incident on Friday on the beach of Teresitas. I apologise for the mistake. I accept the consequences and will try to do everything in my power to compensate for the issues caused.”
Crosas recently joined the Spanish second-tier side on loan from Mexican club Cruz Azul.
In a statement, the club said: “We apologise for the unfortunate incident on the beach of Las Teresitas and regret the damage caused.”
However, the apologies did little to satisfy deputy mayor Zaida Gonzalez.
She said: “Terrible news. They just killed a baby angelshark, whose population is severely depleted.
“Teresitas is one of the few breeding sites for them. The apologies for this atrocious action are not enough.
“The environmental department will open disciplinary proceedings.”
