Second device in ‘lone wolf’ tube terror plot
ORE ODUBA soared to the top of the Strictly Come Dancing judges’ leaderboard for a second week running after scoring 36 points for his classic waltz last night.
The sports presenter, who won viewers’ hearts with his jive on last week’s show, was given nine points by each of the four judges, with Craig Revel Horwood describing him and partner Joanne Clifton as “delicious”.
Lumbering politician Ed Balls, who stepped out spray-tanned for the first time, propped up the leaderboard for another week.
He received just 18 points for his American smooth with a hitchhiking theme to (Is This The Way To) Amarillo and made the judges nervous by precariously lifting partner Katya Jones at the end of the performance.
Before the show it emerged Laura Whitmore had been left “absolutely devastated” after she was forced to pull out with an ankle injury.
Her absence came as Brendan Cole was also forced to pull out after being ill all week with a lung infection.
Experienced pro Gorka Marquez stepped in to replace the 40-year-old and performed a quickstep with Anastacia. carriage heading for landmarks including Westminster and The Shard.
The package – described as a bag with wires sticking out – was found on a Jubilee Line train.
North Greenwich station on the line was evacuated for more than seven hours, and bomb disposal experts carried out a controlled explosion.
A 19- year- old man was arrested in London’s Holloway Road on Friday in connection to the suspicious package.
He was detained under the Terrorism Act 2000, meaning he can be detained for 14 days without charge.
A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: “Counter Terrorism Command officers attended an address in Newton Abbott as part of inquiries into the suspicious item at North Greenwich Underground Station.
“While there, officers found an item they deemed suspicious. Officers evacuated the address and alerted Devon and Cornwall Police.”
Police have confirmed they are not currently looking for anyone else in connection with the incident.
Meanwhile, a leaked memo from the Ministry of Defence yesterday warned staff whoever was behind the failed tube bomb could have planted more devises.
The memo has been reported as saying: “It is unknown who placed the device and what their motivation was.
“It remains possible the perpetrator may attempt to place further devices. The threat level will be reviewed.“
