Fuss is all about with Harry

play and the way he wants them to train.

“As a result they are fitter, they are playing with more confidence and are now better players.

“Hopefully they will all come away from the Scottish Cup Final feeling healthy and be good to go again on June 10 because the contest between the two groups could be very important in terms of the result.”

At the heart of the battle, McGhee reckons, will be a micro tussle, with the two nations’ star strikers, Leigh Griffiths (right) and Harry Kane, shooting it out.

“I hadn’t seen Kane enough to really appreciate him before. But I’m starting to get what all the fuss is about now,” he said with a grin. “He does a lot of things that are actually difficult to do, but the way he does them makes them look easy. “He is also stronger against centre-backs than I thought he was. Plus he is a really good footballer.

“Leigh has had a great end to the season, too, though. If he plays, he will be go into this game full of confidence.

“He will be up for it, all our boys will be, but then so will theirs.”

That being the case, McGhee reckons the key to the outcome of the World Cup qualifier might be not making mistakes.

“I watched the highlights of our last game against England at Wembley with Gordon and there were moments when we had to do better,” he said.

“We had to be a bit more careful. I’ve watched games lately when teams under pressure have done well – but when they win the ball back, they give it away again.

“We’ve got to improve on that against them at Hampden. The rest was actually very good. We didn’t get the luck we deserved.”
