Shirtless rugby ace on the rink of success

-

Max Evans is ready to bare – almost – all to succeed on Dancing On Ice, which returns to ITV tonight.

Scots rugby ace Max, is hoping stripping off will boost his chances of success like brother Thom who frequently wore skimpy outfits on Strictly.

“Neither of us are afraid to take our shirts off,” said Max, 34. “We work hard in the gym and are disciplined with what we eat. So if wardrobe want me to get my kit off I won’t be shy about doing it. Hopefully, it will be pleasing on the eye for the viewers.”

ITV axed the show in 2014 but it has now been brought back with Torvill and Dean joining the judging panel and Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby reunited as presenters.

Max, who won 44 caps for Scotland and had an illustrious club career with Glasgow Warriors, was forced to retire in 2015 because of a chronic neck injury.

Dancing On Ice has seen a host of injuries over the years including Keith Chegwin breaking his shoulder in three places and Jennifer Ellison slicing her head open with her skate.

But Max, who is paired with professional skater Ale Izquierdo, insists he isn’t worried about putting his body on the line again.

“Although I’ve already had a few falls, I’m so used to hurting myself at rugby, injuries don’t bother me.

“My biggest fear is hurting Ale. I’ve never been in a situation where I can hurt a lady so that really scares me.”
