Three cheers for model Chloe

- Judy Murray

This week I’m going to China with the Women’s Tennis Association. They’re taking me into places where major events are held, and where there is a desire to grow a tennis workforce.

China is a massive potential market, but only tiny pockets of the country have access to the sport. I’ll be going there to run workshops for students, teachers, parents and coaches of other sports.

I’ll also run tennis clinics for girls, against the inspirational backdrop of the big WTA events which have some of the world’s best players in them. The more people you show how to deliver a starter activity, the more people get the chance to try it, and I’m very excited to be doing this in China.

Congratulations to Chloe Lennon, the little girl from North Ayrshire who is already modelling for high street fashion stores, and has just been signed up for a film at the age of five. Chloe, who has Down’s syndrome, has done an amazing job in raising awareness. The more we can incorporate everybody into mainstream activity the better, not only for those who

have a condition but actually for everybody else to understand the demands of that condition and the importance of accepting and including. I noticed a little boy with autism, Alfie Aldridge, is also modelling for big brands, and his dad talked about the confidence it had

given him. The most important thing, for anyone, is that we feel good about ourselves – and that the environment we’re in and the people we are around helps us to

do that.
