In-form Boyle has only Hibs form on mind

- By Euan Mcarthur SPORT@SUNDAYPOST.COM

Martin Boyle insists he won’t let talk of a tug-of-war between Scotland and Australia go to his head – because he’s only interested in helping Hibs climb the table.

The on-form winger was a stand-out once more for the Hibees as they dumped bottom-dogs Dundee in style at Dens Park.

Former Dundee ace Boyle has attracted the attention of national boss Alex Mcleish, who has admired his displays so far this season while the Aberdeen-born player also qualifies for Australia through his father.

Whatever happens, Boyle is refusing to allow talk to affect his blistering domestic form for the Easter Road outfit.

Boyle said: “There’s been a lot of talk about it. But I wont let it distract me. If anything happens so be it.

“I’ll just take it in my stride and won’t get carried away.

“The most-important thing at the moment is results for Hibs. “Something would need to happen for me to weigh up my options. “We’ll see what happens, but I’m playing well and enjoying it so it could be an extra boost for me.”

Hibs put Dundee to the sword with goals early in the second-half from Florian Kamberi and Boyle before substitute Thomas Agyepong sealed matters two minutes from time.

Boyle reckons the capital outfit can kick on like last season to challenge high up the Premiership table.

Boyle said: “It was performance.

“It was a bit frustrating with the chances we missed in the first-half, but the manager said at half-time just to keep the head.

“We needed a better end product and we got that which made the difference. “The manager had brought in some new faces and it’s working well. We did lose few boys in the summer and it can take time for things to gel.

“Well take it game by game as we did last year but hopefully we can go on a run and challenge again.

“The confidence is high at the moment which is good, but at the same time we don’t want to get carried away at all because it’s still early doors for everyone.”
