First it was Glasgow, now it’s Dundee’s turn to be best city of culture in Scotland, with the V&A leaving Aberdeen in the doldrums.

However, all is not lost with the much delayed re-opening of Aberdeen Art Gallery. Aberdeen can take some comfort from the comparison, when you see how much less financial support it receives from Holyrood. The central belt will continue to get the lion’s share.
