Medics fulfil last request

-

After bravely fighting pancreatic cancer for 17 years, Ron Mccartney was finally in need of palliative care.

His wife, Sharon, had to call an ambulance when his health took a turn for the worse at his home in Queensland, Australia.

When the paramedics, Kate and Hanna, heard that Ron hadn’t eaten in several days, they asked him if he could eat anything, what would it be.

“A caramel sundae,” he replied, and so the medics took a detour on their way to the hospital to buy him his favourite ice cream.

It was the last thing Ron was able to eat by himself, and it gave his family so much pleasure to see the compassion shown to him by the thoughtful ambulance crew.
