The first pairing ever to win all four matches
16th to seal the point. FRANCESCO MOLINARI & TOMMY FLEETWOOD beat TIGER WOODS & BRYSON DECHAMBEAU 5&4
Molinari and Fleetwood made history as the pair became the first Europeans to win all four matches in a single Ryder Cup.
They did so with a flawless display of foursomes golf as they claimed the scalp of Woods for a third time in Paris. Dechambeau became Tiger’s 14th different Ryder Cup partner, but it made little difference to ‘Moliwood’.
They began with a fine birdie and never looked back as they did not make any mistakes in moving five up at the turn. Woods and his partner found a couple of birdies, but Fleetwood rounded it off in style at the 14th to huge acclaim from the galleries.
IAN POULTER & RORY MCILROY lost to JORDAN SPIETH & JUSTIN THOMAS 4&3
Thomas and Spieth stood up to be counted as this American pair kept up the fight with a commanding victory. They handed their opponents a two-hole start with successive bogeys but when Poulter and Mcilroy made a mess of the fourth, momentum switched. Four out of five holes were won and suddenly the US team were on the charge. The back nine saw a succession of putts holed as Spieth and Thomas showed the passion normally associated with Poulter. It was a sobering day for the Englishman, as the two young guns got the better of him in both morning and afternoon.
