Your own winter wonderland

-

With only 51 days until Christmas, it’s time to start planning. Organisers of the popular Country Living Magazine Christmas Fair, which is back at the SEC, Glasgow, from November 15 to 18, share their top tips.

Get real

Nothing beats a real tree and the Christmassy scent it gives a home.

Decorate with style

Have fun, whether you opt for extravagant lights or a simple string of white fairy light and ribbons on branches.

Buy local

Show your support for local producers by choosing their unique gifts, decorations, crafts, food, drinks and interior ideas. At the Fair will be Edinburgh Gin’s Christmas gin, while for a festive brew check out Wee Tea Company’s mulled wine fruit tea.

Lighten up

Don’t limit Christmas lights to the tree – place them throughout your home for a festive glow that flows from room to room.

It’s a wrap

Nothing looks better than a pile of beautifully-wrapped gifts sitting under the tree. Pick a wrapping style you like and use it for all your gifts – whether that’s handmade paper or plain brown paper finished with pretty twine, raffia or ribbon.

Heaven scent

Candles and diffusers are the perfect way to create a festive fragrance throughout your home. The Highland Wax Company, PQ Soy Wax Candles and Candelicious will all be exhibiting at the Country Living Magazine Christmas Fair. Little helpers

Ask the youngsters to help you make homemade decorations. You can pick up some great tips at the at the Christmas Fair’s crafting workshops, including how to make festive ribbon flowers, mini mittens and a crocheted snowflake.
