Sir KENNY ON...
Both Celtic and Rangers can still qualify from their Europa League groups to get through to the last 32 of the competition. Looking at the remaining fixtures, I think Steven Gerrard and his players might be in with a slightly better chance of doing so – providing, of course, they tighten up defensively. They can’t afford too many more performances at the back like the one they had in Moscow last midweek.
Brendan Rodgers (above) and his squad are probably better equipped to cope with extra Europa League games.
So, with domestic competitions still up for grabs, it might not be the worst thing for Rangers if they were to miss out. Looking at the bigger picture, I can see that being beneficial to them as they try to cope with the demands that the second half of the season will bring. The business end of a season is usually unforgiving and is a high-pressure environment.
The Celtic lads have been over the course and distance before.
Rangers still have several young players who don’t have more than 30 first-team games under their belts. But if the Gers do progress beyond Christmas, then good luck to them.
