Cove extended their 100% start to the league campaign to 14 matches, continuing the run of never having lost a league goal at the Balmoral Stadium in the process.

The opener arrived for the champions in the eighth minute when Jamie Masson lifted the ball to Mitch Megginson and he fired past Blair Moir.

Masson hit Cove’s second early in the second half with a stunning strike, waltzing past three defenders before smashing the ball into the top corner of the net.

An impressive flowing move culminated in Brora’s Zander Sutherland slotting the ball past Grant Pennet early on. Defender Colin Williamson was alert in the attacking area when he pounced on a parry by Pennet after a free-kick.

In the second period, Matty Wallace fired past Joe Malin to reduce the deficit.

The crucial third for the hosts arrived 10 minutes from time, player-manager Steve Mackay taking the acclaim after a driving run by Paul Brindle created the opening. Mackay added a second to complete the scoring.

A lightning quick counter-attack sparked the game into life in the 12th minute. The ball moved quickly from the keeper’s hands to the feet of Dylan Mackenzie via Adam Porritt and the youngster raced in behind the Coasters defence to round Stewart Black and slot home.

Ten minutes later, a long freekick by Porritt was allowed to find Callum Maclean and he fired into the roof of the net.

Further set-piece success for Nairn when Cohen Ramsay’s freekick eventually fell to Max Ewan to stick into the net.

The second half was the Dylan Mackenzie show as the youngster completed his treble. Firstly, he pounced on a poor touch from Aaron Hamilton to replicate his composed first-half finish from the resulting one-on-one.

Midway through the half, Mackenzie showed a clean pair of heels to Aaron Maclean, then, from 12 yards, drilled an angled shot across Black and into the bottom corner.

Formartine 4 Huntly 0

Huntly had a penalty claim turned down in the first minute when Nicholas Gray was bundled over by Jevan Anderson, then Gray hit the post.

For the opening goal, Graeme Rodger fired home following a scramble in the box.

The home side were awarded a penalty midway through the half when Andrew Greig was taken down by Alexander Jack. Greig made no mistake from the spot.

Ten minutes later, a pinpoint cross from Aaron Norris was met by the head of substitute Conor Gethins to nod in. Gethins added his second with six minutes remaining, powering home high inside the post from 20 yards.

Scott Barbour got the first of his five goals in the sixth minute, slotting Lewis Davidson’s pass into the corner from 16 yards.

Barbour scored a second, then Sean Butcher hit a double in the space of three minutes. Barbour then completed his hat-trick from four yards, then crossed for Greg Buchan to find the bottom corner from 13 yards. Barbour and Buchan then grabbed one more each to make it 8-0 with 33 minutes gone.

Just after the hour, Butcher set up Barbour for another goal. Butcher then netted No. 10 and headed home the 11th from Ryan Sargent’s cross from the left. Liam Macdonald and Aidan Combe rounded off the rout.

KEITH 2 WICK ACADEMY 2

Michael Selfridge put Keith in front with a stinging 22-yard drive on 20 minutes.

On the hour, a trip on Davie Allan gave the Scorries the chance to level from the spot, which Gary Manson took full advantage of. Wick went ahead five minutes later with Jack Halliday cut inside and thumped a shot past Greg Simpson.

However, it was all square after Craig Gunn was penalised for a push in the penalty area. Cammy Keith netted from the spot.

A great three-man move for the visitors looked like producing the opener early on, but returning top scorer Neil Gauld saw his sidefoot effort blocked near the goal-line.

The visitors had several chances to go in front, but it was the Speysiders who took the lead in 28 minutes when Alistair Sutherland sent in a pinpoint cross for the unmarked Jaime Wilson to sweep his left-foot shot into the corner. A long kick-out by Andy Reid kicked off the move for the equaliser on the hour, Mark Souter knocking the ball down and finding the deadly Gauld who swivelled and powered his shot into the net.

Gauld grabbed the points for the Red and Blacks with only two minutes to go. Determined running by Chris Angus took him to the bye line, with Gauld gleefully walloping the cross past Cameron Mackay for his 32nd of the season.
