East Fife took the lead in 10 minutes. Ross Dunlop left defender Kieran Macdonald standing as he raced on, then powered a cross that Kevin Smith fired into the net off the crossbar.

Ten minutes from the interval, the home defence was poor once more at a Scott Agnew corner and keeper David Hutton’s attempted punch was ineffective as Smith met the ball at the post and squeezed it into the net.

The Diamonds gave themselves a lifeline two minutes from the break when skipper Sean Crighton rose at the near post to head home Kyle Wilkie’s corner. Three second-half goals saw the home side turn around the match. In 61 minutes, Darryl Duffy sent keeper Craig Mcdowell the wrong way from the spot after Wilkie was fouled in the box.

In 72 minutes, Wilkie curled a 20-yard effort in off the post after good work by substitute Leighton Mcintosh.

Four minutes from time, Duffy netted from close range to seal the win.

Four minutes later, a half-volley from Craig Johnston was tipped over by Currie. Montrose took the lead in 59 minutes when a free-kick was headed home by Martin Rennie.
