Finance expert reluctantl­y puts stylish steading on the market

FINANCE worker Davina Bond was banking on finding the right house. But little did she think it would be a one-time cowshed.

The Granary, at Grange of Lindores, is a picture-perfect retreat with views over the Golden Loch but is less than a 25-minute drive from Perth, Dundee and Fife.

The award-winning developmen­t was converted from steadings – where grain was also stored – into nine high quality homes 13 years ago. Davina went to look at the showhome and became the first – and so far only – person to live in it.

“I fell in love with it at first sight. How could you come in and not love it?” she tells in10. “This one was built and there were two others that were almost finished but the rest was still a building site. “Despite that I thought it was just beautiful. And what the particular­s did not show were the breathtaki­ng views over the Golden Loch and the wonderful woodland walks close by.

“At the time I was working in banking and covering Perth, Dundee and Fife, so I was perfectly placed for commuting.

“And we’re just a few miles from Auchtermuc­hty for local shopping. It was perfect.” This stone-built conversion – entered via a courtyard – has an expansive lounge/dining room with an eye-catching, feature stone fireplace. A glazed, arched timberfram­ed window looks on to the garden while a glazed door leads into it. There are two further south-facing windows with deep, solid elm wood sills, and the room boasts oak flooring and ambient recess lighting.

The kitchen is equally spacious and bright with a double glazed arch window overlookin­g the garden and courtyard, while another affords views of the loch. It is fitted with oak cabinets and has a centrally positioned preparatio­n unit which incorporat­es an integral
