On a long reminiscin­g phone call to my sister last night I recalled a story from our childhood which had been buried in the dust of time for over 60 years.

Our father not long back from the war, was attempting to come to terms with the contrast between five years of hell and adjusting into civilian life.

We were very noisy children who argued and fought with each other all the time, on such an occasion my Dad couldn’t take the noise any longer, he approached us, stern faced grabbed hold of my wrist and led me to another room.
