Concern for missing oil boss sparks police hunt
A close neighbour of a businessman who has been missing for almost seven weeks has spoken of his growing concern for his safety.
Yahya Ghassemazadeh, 74, also known as John Cowry, is thought to have taken a flight from Aberdeen to Paris in October but has not been heard from since.
He has not returned to his home in Montrose and police have launched an appeal to try to locate him. The businessman is thought to have been experiencing some health issues which had led to concerns about his wellbeing. Mr Ghassemazadeh works in the oil and gas industry, mainly in Aberdeen, but often travels abroad on business. Neighbour Ian Rooke, who looks after Mr Ghassemazadeh’s home while he is overseas, said: “Three weeks is the longest he has ever been away and it is always on business, never on holiday.
“He often goes back to Iran but I know that he has two sons in Germany. “When he went away this time I got the keys as usual. I haven’t spoken to him since.
“I just hope he is ok. “But the longer it goes on without him being in touch the more worrying it is.”
Police said their investigations continue.
