Pregnant woman attacked and robbed

A pregnant woman was struck over the head, knocked to the ground and robbed in a busy Glasgow street on Friday evening. The 27-year-old woman was attacked from behind as she walked along Crow Road, near Morrisons in Anniesland, at around 7.50pm.

The force of the blow made her fall and the thief snatched her handbag then ran off with it.

The mum-to-be was left badly shaken by the attack, A passer-by came to help her and she was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital to be checked over.

The suspect is believed to have been loitering in Crow Road near the bollards at Foulis Lane before following the woman.

Detective Sergeant Robert Bowie said: “His actions are cowardly and contemptib­le and it’s imperative we trace him.

“The stolen handbag is a mustard colour, which the suspect may have discarded.

“If anyone finds the bag please hand it in to us so we can examine it for forensic opportunit­ies.”

The suspect is described as white, in his 30s, around 5ft 7ins, with average build. He was wearing a black, hooded jacket and black trousers.
