The true meaning of Christmas isn’t commercialism
It bugs me that Christmas starts so early and has become way too commercialised.
So I loved that teachers at a North Yorkshire school said they would ban festive activities unless kids could persuade them otherwise. They relented after hundreds of letters and emails from pupils successfully made the case to bring back the baubles.
In doing that, the staff succeeded in their aim of getting the children to think about what the real meaning of Christmas actually is. Goodness knows we need cheering up amid the doom and gloom of Brexit and bad weather, but while the parties are fun, we should remember why we’re celebrating.
