Sir KENNY ON...
The Premiership has been full of drama, entertaining football, surprises and controversy. Really, any neutral football fan couldn’t have asked for more.
And for Kilmarnock to have topped the league table in December, is quite incredible.
Their supporters have been on a high for all of 2018 and long may that continue. Having had Steve Clarke as my assistant manager at Liverpool, I knew the qualities he possesses and thought it was an inspirational appointment by Killie. Indeed, in the nicest possible way, they were probably punching above their weight in getting someone of Steve’s calibre. But credit to Billy Bowie and his board for their ambition and foresight.
He has beaten all the top teams comfortably during his 13 months in charge, and has managed to do so with a budget that is probably way below those of many he is beating.
He knows how to get the best out of players and they respond to his methods and man-management. He has them working brilliantly as a team and also has encouraged other players to express themselves and play with freedom. There is a long way to go in the title race, but I won’t take my eyes off them.
