From Mckay’s lay-off, Mullin let fly with power towards the top corner of the net from 16 yards. Martin’s full-stretch leap to touch it over was quite brilliant.

But the Staggies celebrated the breakthrough after 56 minutes with a superbly-worked move.

Midfielder Lindsay’s long through pass from deep sent Mckay tearing away on the right and the striker’s well-timed ball inside rolled perfectly into Mullin’s path.

From just inside the 18-yard line, his low strike tore into the bottom left corner under the body of keeper Martin.

The leveller came after a shrewd substitution.

Andy Stirling, just seven minutes on the park, met Lyndon Dykes’ cutback with a lethal finish from 12 yards with the previously solid County defence caught unawares.

Delighted Queens boss Gary Naysmith felt his men proved they were not a one-man band with prolific Dobbie missing.

He beamed: “We showed great attitude. There was a determination to get a result today without two of our most creative players, Stephen Dobbie and Gary Harkins.

“I was delighted we came from behind to score and create chances because if we hadn’t people would have said ‘ah, they can’t get a result without Stephen’.” 44 Possession 56 3 Shots on target 2 7 Shots off target 6 4 3 7 1

MIKE RONCONE made some glaring errors and minor decisions frustrating both sides. (County) Used all of his experience defensively and in creating attacks with the odd surge forward from central defence. Andy Stirling’s entry from the bench added another dimension to a Queens side missing prolific Stephen Dobbie. Stirling energised Queens and took the goal superbly. Feel that game was there to be won today – again lots of chances but failed to convert @RCFC_SLO
