I wanted to retire but now I’m back working full-time

George Sutherland, 60, lost £13,250 earlier this year after fraudsters hacked his email account while he was buying a new car.

The joiner from Shetland had been to a mainland car dealer but stayed in touch by email and used a bank transfer to send cash.

However, thieves intercepted emails between George and the car dealership. Pretending to be from the company, they provided him with fake bank account details which he paid cash for the car into, but it was a fraudulent one. Dad-of-three George said: “I had been planning to retire or at least slow down but since that happened I’m having to keep working full time.”
