Mike on that interview
Last week’s interviews provided one of this year’s priceless TV moments when Mike grilled candidate Daniel Elahi about his plan for a hangover cure. Daniel said he’d sold 47,000 hangover sticks – but Mike pointed out the claim on Amazon that one million had been sold. A squirming Daniel admitted it was wrong and that he was possibly the author of the online claim. But it took an extended, excruciating exchange – “It’s highly likely I wrote that, probably 90% likely I wrote it” – before Daniel finally came clean.
“I knew he was lying and he knew he was lying but he was really reluctant to admit it,” said Mike.
“I remember thinking that we were going to stay here until we got to the truth.
“It said a lot about Daniel’s character and his evasiveness, which would make him a more difficult person to invest in.”
