Sea, wind and fire for fishermen

-

Misadventure was reported as a number of fishermen got into trouble off Arbroath.

“A 36-foot pleasure boat with seasick anglers aboard was towed into Arbroath Harbour by lifeboat,” the story read. “It had drifted helplessly for several hours off the dangerous Head Cliffs on the Angus coast.

“One of the party of nine, 19-year-old Ross Swankie, 35 Union Street East, Arbroath, was taken off by a helicopter from RAF Leuchars.” The fishermen used some risky tactics to attract attention. “We put up a smoke bomb and then made a distress signal by lighting a bucket of diesel fuel,” said the skipper.
