Two second-half goals from Alloa hitman Alan Trouten, the second deep into stoppage time, denied Dunfermline the victory which had looked to be certain after they totally dominated the first half.

“It’s very frustrating,” reflected Dunfermline manager Allan Johnston.

“We played well in the first half and should have scored more goals.

“We became nervy when Alloa pulled one back and it gave them a lift.

“I thought we had done enough to see the game out and there didn’t appear to be any danger, but to lose a goal the way we did right at the end was criminal.

“It’s a killer blow when that happens.” Dunfermline were well on top during the early stages and took a deserved lead after 18 minutes when Aidan Keena collected a pass from Kallum Higginbotham 25 yards out before sending a superb shot beyond Alloa keeper Neil Parry. The powerful running of Myles Hippolyte was causing problems for the Wasps defenders and, just before the half hour, his precise pass released Keena whose low shot was pushed out by Parry, only for the ball to rebound from the chest of Iain Flannigan before trickling over the line for an unfortunate own-goal. With the home side having looked particularly impressive throughout the first 45, a gentle stroll to victory looked to be on the cards at half-time but Alloa came out fighting.

They pulled a goal back four minutes after the restart when Trouten bundled home a low cross from on loan Hearts winger Dario Zanatta.

The visitors continued to pressurise as the second half progressed and were rewarded with a 92nd-minute equaliser when Trouten collected a pass from sub Greig Spence before sending a low shot past Robinson.

“It was definitely a game of two halves” said Alloa boss Jim Goodwin.
