Glen Durrant kept his dream of winning a thirdconsecutive BDO World Darts title alive, with a 6-3 semi-final victory over Jim Williams of Wales yesterday. The Middlesbrough man is aiming to be the first player to win three-in-a-row since Eric Bristow in 1986.
Durrant will play Scott Waites in today’s final, after the former two-time champion cruised past Germany’s Michael Unterbuchner 6-1. Unterbuchner never got started against the favourite who took the first five sets before easing to one of his most-convincing wins.
Earlier, Mikuru Suzuki became the first Japanese player to win a major darts title, as she took the women’s world crown with a 3-0 win over England’s Lorraine Winstanley.
