Raith – Barjonas (34); Forfar – Baird (87)

John Baird denied Raith a vital win with a late strike for Forfar.

The Kirkcaldy side looked set to move to within 10 points of leaders Arbroath, but had to settle for a point.

Dale Hilson had an early chance for Forfar, but Dean Lyness was well positioned to save.

Tony Dingwall responded for Raith, but he dragged his shot wide of the target with Forfar exposed. Dingwall tried his luck again moments later, but could not find a way past Marc Mccallum.

Raith stepped it up as the half wore on and Nat Wedderburn had a chance with a header, but could not keep it down.

It was no surprise when the Fife outfit went in front when Jamie Barjonas beat Mccallum with a low shot from outside the area.

Raith dominated at the start of the second half and should have added to their lead. Euan Murray and Kevin Nisbet both had decent attempts with headers, but neither troubled Mccallum.

Callum Crane also came close, but the angle was tight and he could not direct his shot on target.

Raith were made to pay for not taking their chances when Baird equalised for the Angus side with a right-foot shot from 15 yards with three minutes left.

airdrieonians 2 dumbarton 2 Airdrieonians – Duffy (2), Mcintosh (65); Dumbarton – Barr (56), Thomas (86)

A late goal gave visiting Dumbarton a point at Airdrieonians.

The home side opened the scoring inside two minutes. Declan Glass chipped the ball in behind the away defence to Leighton Mcintosh and his powerful effort on goal was well saved by keeper Grant Adam. Striker Darryl Duffy, though, was on hand to score.

It took fine goalkeeping by Adam to ensure there were no further goals added by the home side before the interval. On 56 minutes, Dumbarton equalised after Bobby Barr took full advantage of the retreating Diamonds defence to blast a terrific 25-yard effort into the top corner of the net, giving David Hutton no chance in the Airdrie goal.

Airdrie restored their lead though in 65 minutes after midfielder Grant Gallagher sent the ball through to Mcintosh. The former Dundee hitman raced in and slid the ball under Adam.

Jim Duffy’s side, though, were not to be denied and battled back for the second time to equalise and grab a point. Dom Thomas showed great control of the ball down the right, then cut into the box before powering the ball beyond Airdrie keeper Hutton into the far corner of the net.

Montrose 5 Brechin CITY 2 Montrose – Watson (3, 29), Henderson (33), Harrington (73), Johnston (78) Brechin – Smith (13), Toshney (16)

Montrose beat Angus rivals Brechin for the third time this season when they came out on top in a seven-goal thriller at Links Park.

Montrose took the lead in three minutes when an Ian Campbell corner was headed against the bar by Martin Rennie and Paul Watson fired home the rebound.

Brechin levelled in 13 minutes as Allan Fleming did well to save a point-blank effort from Ross Kavanagh, but Euan Smith followed up to score.

The visitors were ahead three minutes later. A Jordan Sinclair corner was cleared to the edge of the box and Lewis Toshney volleyed home.

The Gable Endies made it 2-2 in 29 minutes when Watson hooked home a Campbell free-kick.

Four minutes later, the hosts were back in front when Euan Henderson headed home a Campbell cross.

Early in the second half, Kavanagh should have made it 3-3, but put his header over the bar.

Montrose made sure of the points in 73 minutes when Ryan Harrington scored after a one-two with Lewis Milne.

Soon after, Graham Webster crossed for Craig Johnston to add No. 5.

With six minutes to go, a free-kick from Campbell hit the underside of the Brechin crossbar and stayed out.
