Paris win not beyond injury-hit Scotland

-

Richard Cockerill has backed Magnus Bradbury to answer Scotland’s back-row SOS. The flanker made his comeback from injury with a brilliant try-scoring display in Edinburgh’s bonus point Pro14 victory over Dragons at Murrayfield.

And Gunners coach Cockerill saw enough to be convinced that Bradbury can jump straight into the injury-ravaged national line-up for Saturday’s clash with France in Paris. Bradbury had been sidelined for four months, and Cockers said: “Maggie put in a big shift physically – and as the game went on he seemed to get stronger and stronger. “Given he has had been out of action for so long, that was a big performance. If Scotland want him, he is ready – he may not have many minutes under his belt, but he does have one big game to his credit.

“With their injury issues at the moment in the back row, you would imagine he would be in the mix.”

Bradbury stated: “You have dark days when you are out and everyone else is playing.

“When things are going well for the team, it can be hard to watch

“The last month has been all about getting as fit and strong as possible – but you can’t really replicate a game!

“So I am really happy to be back and I would take any chance with open arms if Scotland need me.

“But my primary focus just now is Edinburgh.”
