Awakes on a plane? Sounds like a nightmare

- Dougall

Lib Dem leader and deputy prime minister, said there had been a shift in recent years from “tech utopia” to “tech phobia” and that we ran the risk of throwing the baby out with the bath water.

But the health and safety of our children must come before all else. It has come to light that a woman was left stranded on a plane for hours after falling asleep during a flight from Quebec to Toronto.

She woke up, blinking and confused, to the deadly silence of an empty plane.

Tiffani O’brien said it was a nightmare.

She had to prise open a door in the aircraft and shout to luggage handlers to be rescued, but not before she’d had a good poke around in the cockpit.

I think being on any plane stuffed full of passengers is a nightmare, but I feel her pain.

I am genuinely puzzled, though, how anyone can sleep through a landing. Fair enough if you nod off on the last train home on a Saturday night after a few cold ones, but trapped inside 500 tonnes of jumbo jet? I wonder just how much on-board refreshment had been taken!

Labour MSP Daniel Johnson said this week that Edinburgh needs an elected mayor. He says that as it’s Scotland’s capital and enjoys apparent robust economic success, no further care and attention is required.

It’s true, we do need a mayor – and I’m throwing

my hat into the ring.

I will be as inspirational a figurehead as Boris Johnson. That’s a good thing, yeah? And I promise not to buy any water cannons at one hundred grand a

pop. Or lark around on zip wires. My manifesto is simple – no cars in the city centre (apart from mine, obviously) Owners who let their dogs soil the streets will be jailed for life. And cyclists who ignore red

lights can join them in the clink. Vote Rona, you know it makes sense.
