Indy blogger: I’m planning new party

The biggest proindependence blogger yesterday said he might launch his own political party.

Stuart Campbell, who is behind the Wings Over Scotland website, said he was considering setting up a party to fight in the 2021 Holyrood election.

He said the plans were in response to growing unhappiness within the Yes movement at First Minister’s Nicola Sturgeon’s caution over independence. Campbell described the SNP as being “a shambles”.

The SNP said Sturgeon had promised to hold a referendum on independence before the 2021 election. A spokesperson said: “The SNP will continue to set out a positive vision for Scotland’s future as an independent nation.”
