Gethins strike is a title blow for Buckie

Formartine 2 BUCKIE th 1

Buckie’s aspirations of a title tilt suffered a blow as they lost to an injury-time winner at North Lodge Park.

There has been little to separate these teams in league and cup clashes this term.

After a goalless first half, the home team were fired in front by Scott Lisle.

The Jags pulled level from the penalty spot, Andy Macaskill beating former Buckie keeper Kevin Main in the 83rd minute. However, Formartine claimed the victory nine minutes later thanks to Connor Gethins.

Fraserburgh were ahead early on, Ryan Cowie sweeping Paul Campbell’s cross into the corner.

Halfway through the first half, Owen Cairns played the ball into Campbell, who produced a calm finish from eight yards.

Eight minutes before halftime, Sean Butcher headed home Cowie’s corner.

Gary Harris placed a shot past Fraser Hobday after the break.

Andrew Macrae gave the visitors the lead after 29 minutes, prodding in from close range. Brora made it two in the 42nd minute when James Wallace fired wide of the keeper.

Martin Maclean drove low for the third on half-time to give the visitors a three-goal cushion. Jordan Macrae wrapped up the scoring with 11 minutes left, firing in off the near post.

Jonathan Smith hit the bar and over from the spot before Locos made the breakthrough in 27 minutes when Neil Maclean lashed home a knockdown.

But, two minutes before halftime, they were pegged back when Scott Davidson controlled well on the edge of the area before rifling into the bottom corner for his first goal in Nairn colours.

Davidson gave his side the lead seven minutes into the second half when keeper Andrew Reid couldn’t hold a Cohen Ramsay free-kick and the striker stroked the ball into an empty goal.

Locos’ equaliser arrived in 73 minutes when Angus headed home off a Jonathan Smith cross. The home side found the winner with two minutes left when Gordon Mcnab turned to produce a good finish into the bottom corner.

KEITH 4 Forres MECH 1

Keith took the lead when James Brownie nipped in to net from a long Marc Young throw-in.

Craig Macaskill knocked in No. 2, reacting to a blocked shot to score.

He then slid through Cammy Keith to net the third right on the half-time whistle.

There was no way back for the Can Cans and Mike Selfridge cut in from the right to score a fourth on 50 minutes.

James Ross grabbed a consolation from the penalty spot.

WICK 4 Fort william 1

Richard Macadie scored his 200th competitive goal for Wick Academy as they eased to victory in Russell Macmorran’s last game as Fort William manager.

The hosts came out the blocks rapidly and were two up within three minutes. Davie Allan first drilled in after combining with Jonah Martens before Macadie finished off Alan Hughes’ cross.

Fort William refused to be too disheartened by their disastrous start and deservedly pulled one back after a quarter of an hour when Harry Nicolson headed in a corner at the near post.

Both sides had chances, but it wasn’t until the second half that the next goal arrived. Allan was brought down in the area and Gary Manson sent the goalkeeper the wrong way from the resultant penalty.

That was Manson’s 50th goal for the club and Macadie reached his own landmark shortly after with a brilliant first time finish from Allan’s pass. Mateusz Kulbacki got a hand to the shot, but couldn’t prevent it smashing in off the crossbar as Wick sealed an emphatic victory.

Liam Taylor nodded the visitors in front from a corner halfway through the first half.

I was another set-piece that provided the clinching second goal in the 58th minute.

Lossie were unable to clear a corner out of the box and Chris Innes smashed it home on the volley from 12 yards.

The Coasters pushed for a way back into the game, but Michael Maccallum marshalled his back line to a clean sheet.

Chances were few and far between in the first half, with Colin Charlesworth firing wide for Vale and Michael Dunn blocking a Martin Callum shot from the visitors.

The home side were reduced to 10 men two minutes into the second period as Kyle Willox was shown a second yellow card.

The visitors capitalised in the 62nd minute as John Cameron’s cross was headed home by Scott Graham.

Vale levelled seven minutes later when Kyle Gould’s looping header from eight yards found the top corner of the net.

As both sides pushed for a winner, Ryan Sargent shot inches wide for the home side, and Dunn produced a goal-saving challenge on Callum inside the box.
